Welcome to Cornelius Elementary for the 2012/13 school year!
We want to remind you of several important things as we begin the second trimester of the school year.
- Your involvement in your child’s education is critically important. Become aware of your child’s goals for reading and math for this year and ask the teacher for information on your child’s progress. Make sure your child reads at least 20 minutes each day. Research shows that this daily practice makes a tremendous difference in learning outcomes.
- We are proud of the fact that Cornelius parents support uniforms and we feel that this definitely adds to our positive learning environment. We encourage all of our children to wear their uniforms every day and we want to support every family in this process. If you need any assistance with uniforms, please see our counselor.
- Our buses are crowded coming and returning from school. Please emphasize with your child that riding the bus is a privilege and the same behavior is expected on the bus as at school.
Some important dates coming up are: McDonald’s Night on December 6th and our Family Celebration at School on December 21st. Ballet will perform on that day.
Please join us at Parent Club which meets the third Thursday of each month at 6:00 pm. Childcare is always provided and the meetings are now potluck with a family meal before the actual meeting.
Thank you again for sharing your children with us. It is an honor and a privilege to serve you.
Best regards,
David Dorman
